CSB Dressage

For the past 30 years I have been involved with the art of Dressage. My training has been extensive so I have developed a logical approach to training both horse and rider. I am dedicated to the practical application of correct aids and exercises that develop both the rider and horse to their fullest potential.

My training started very young with a wonderful teacher and mentor
named Kay Meredith. Kay led me through all my junior years as a
Dressage rider. The wonderful thing about this time was the opportunity to work with all the European trainers that came to Meredith Manor. The four that influenced my riding the most were: Col. Lundquist, Michael Hander, Melle Van Breugen and Chuck Grant. With this training, my daily riding was constantly challenged and improved. This background taught me the dedication to the classical principals of riding. The foundation of all my teaching and training is dedicated to the horse and rider understanding the lessons they are learning and “why” they are doing them. To show them that the concepts of Dressage are simple and constructed on easy to grasp principals.

The next stage in my training was a four-year college stop at Lake Erie College. College provided the cement between the bricks for me; practical knowledge about horses that as a rider and horseman everyone needs. It added to my theory that we are all horsemen first, riders and trainers second. While at the college, I was given the opportunity to work with Jean Froissard, which brought the classical French school into my training. Then I went to Europe for four months and worked as a working student for David Hunt the British Dressage coach. This gave me more time and work at the international levels, which was difficult to achieve in the
U.S. at that time.

My training career has been full of continued schooling from many advanced teachers. Maj. Anders Lingren of Sweden and Miguel Tavora from Australia have been my main coaches and have guided my teaching and training skills. Along with my private students, I went back and taught several years at Lake Erie College to balance my riding and competitive showing.

My personal accomplishments are as follows:
• National Champion Junior Young Rider
• Short listed twice Pan American Team - alternate once
• Long listed 5 times for U.S. Olympic Team - short listed twice
• National Champion Horses - Twilight, Revelation, Chardonnay, Dark Commander, Incognito, Siglavy II Durana, Firecracker, Karparti and Playboy
• Top Ten Horses in U.S. shown by me - I have ridden 19 horses to this honor
• National Award of Merit given by AQHA for Revelation - He has been AQHA Dressage Horse of the
Year 8 times
• My students also have achieved many honors
• 27 National titles / 27 of my students are now working as professionals - this I am most proud!

I am presently working with 65 students on a regular basis at Maple Star Farm and doing clinics in 7 different states. Training and showing 11 horses from training to Grand Prix. I pride myself on the abilityto work with students and horses at all stages of Dressage. The only criteria students need to work with me, is a willingness to learn and work at it; coupled with a never-ending love and compassion for the horse helping them.

Also, I currently import sale horses from Europe. These horses make available better tools for students and buyers to learn from. I strictly choose horses of good quality and character to accelerate learning. What took so many years for me to learn, these horses can make Dressage easier, more fun and fulfilling.
